  What is DAO? A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is a blockchain-based technique of organizing people and their interests over the internet. The blockchain is a decentralized ledger that can only be viewed over the internet. It uses a complex cryptographic system to ensure that everything is written to it ("blocks") is verifiable. Smart contracts, which are essentially an organization's legal bylaws, can be recorded on this ledger, which is generally maintained by a group of internet elves known as "miners." How does a DAO work? A blockchain, a distributed database that employs several computers in a network to keep data on purchases and ownership in a format known as a "block," records all DAO transactions.
